NIAGARA 83, ST. CLAIR 74

WINDSOR, Ont. - The St. Clair men's basketball team dropped their final home game of the regular season to Niagara College (Welland, Ont.) by a score of 83-74 Saturday night at the SportsPlex.

After falling behind early, St. Clair was able to finish the first quarter well with a last second lay-up to go ahead 18-16 heading to the second quarter. The Saints then held Niagara to just 10 points before halftime to lead 37-26 at the break.

Starting the second half St. Clair took their largest lead at 45-32 but the tide soon turned with Niagara employing full-court pressure. The Saints turnovers resulted in a 19-3 Niagara run and 31 points in the third quarter putting the visitors ahead for good.

St. Clair clawed back to within three points at 75-72 with under two minutes to play but that was as close as the Saints would come. Niagara scored 31 points off 23 St. Clair turnovers (17 in second half) which proved to be the difference in the game.

Rookie guard Trevon Mollison (Brampton, Ont.) had a game-high 20 points for St. Clair and an outstanding 11 rebounds for the double-double adding five steals. Third-year transfer guard Jermaine Lynch (Windsor, Ont./JL Forster) scored 14 points for the Saints with Weng James (Windsor, Ont./Catholic Central) and Charles Baskin (Detroit, Mich.) each also reaching double figures scoring 12 points apiece.
 
Niagara's Lequan Hylton (Mississauga, Ont.), Jordan McDonald (Mississauga, Ont.) and Delroy Grandison (Nassau, Bahamas) each scored 13 points sharing the spotlight in the win.
