NIAGARA 91, ST. CLAIR 73

WELLAND, Ont. - The St. Clair men's basketball team put a scare into the nation's fourth-ranked team Sunday afternoon in Welland, Ont., but Niagara College came away with a 91-73 win on its home court.

The Saints held Niagara to just seven points in the first quarter points taking a 12-point advantage into the second quarter. But Niagara answered cutting into the lead and trailed St. Clair 39-34 by halftime. The Saints attempted to hold off Niagara early in the third quarter but the pace favoured the home team. From that point Niagara was impressive building as much as a 24-point lead using a pair of extended runs stretching into the fourth quarter.

Niagara doubled up St. Clair in points from long range (24-12) and held a 33-24 advantage in points off the bench.

Lance Drummonds (Hamilton) led St. Clair in scoring with 16 points and recorded a double-double with 11 rebounds. Andrés Bravo (Panama City, Panama) and Charles Baskin (Detroit, Mich.) each also reached double figures scoring 12 points apiece for the Saints.

Niagara's Lequan Hylton (Mississauga) scored a game-high 19 points in the win.
