MOHAWK MEN WIN OPENER IN KINGSTON BASKETBALL

KINGSTON, Ont. - Mohawk got off on the right foot with a 77-71 decision over the Algonquin Thunder of Ottawa on Day 1 of the 23rd annual St. Lawrence College Vikings Invitational Men's Basketball Tournament in Kingston, Ont.

The Mountaineers, who have won this event three of the last four years, hope to regain the gold medal.

Jordan Martin led the way for Mohawk with 14 points and six assists. Lamar Barr had 13 points and eight rebounds and Neil Santos also contributed 13 points.

Saturday at 5 p.m., the Mountaineers will face the Vanier College Cheetahs, who defeated Niagara College 91-69.
