ST. LAWRENCE (K) 22, FLEMING 10

KINGSTON, Ont. - The St. Lawrence Vikings men's rugby team earned their third consecutive victory on Saturday with a 22-10 win over the visiting Fleming College Knights. The victory advances the Vikings to third place in the Ontario Colleges Athletics Association (OCAA) East Division, with only two games remaining in the regular season.

Both teams would elect to go with penalty kicks in the first half, with the Vikings taking a slim 6-3 lead at halftime.

In the second, the Knights committed a foul on the opening kick that resulted in a player being sent to the sin bin. SLC wasted no time capitalizing on the man advantage, scoring a try, making the convert, and immediately responded with a penalty kick.

The Vikings played with great, controlled, intensity all game that played a big part in keeping the Knights out of the Vikings end for most of the second half.

For a brief moment, there was a break in that intensity that allowed the Knights to score and make the convert. But SLC immediately responded with their fourth and fifth penalty kick to secure the 22-10 win.

SLC's Stefan Mackey was the difference maker in the game, recording 17 of SLC's 22 points with one convert and five penalty picks. Cody Strickland scored the lone try for the Vikings.

With a regular season record of 3-1, the Vikings are three points ahead of the fourth place 1-2 Algonquin College Thunder, whom the Vikings will host in their final home game of the 2014 season.
