SENECA 18, ST. LAWRENCE (K) 10

KINGSTON, Ont. - The St. Lawrence College men's rugby team did not make their first Ontario Colleges Athletics Association (OCAA) regular season game easy on themselves. The Vikings would play behind on the scoreboard for the majority of the game against the Seneca College Sting, resulting in an 18-10 loss.

"We played a little unorganized today. Things were not clicking offensively and it allowed Seneca to stay ahead of us," said SLC head coach Herb Steacy.

Down 11-5 heading into the second half, the Vikings would score with 20 minutes remaining but miss the convert. Now only down by one, SLC would continue to press for the lead, while keeping the Seneca offence at the far end of the field. But in the final minutes of the game, a late try and convert by Seneca proved to be the dagger for the Vikings.

Tom Horton and Cody Strickland scored both tries for SLC.

"We showed some great character by coming back," said Steacy. "We'll definitely build on that next week in practice as we prepare to play Loyalist."

The Vikings will travel to Belleville, Ont., on Saturday, Sept. 20 to play the Loyalist College Lancers at 3 p.m., for the second game of the season.
