ST. LAWRENCE (K) 14, SENECA 3

NORTH YORK, Ont. - After being defeated 18-10 in their home opener in a game the Vikings felt that they should have won, the SLC men's rugby team came into their game against Seneca College on Sunday, Sept. 28 with no shortage of motivation to return the favour.

With that in mind, the Vikings played a structurally sound defensive game that prevented Seneca from scoring any tries, that resulted in the 14-3 win for SLC.

"The boys played really well for the majority of the game," said SLC head coach Herb Steacy. "There is always room for improvement after each game, and today is no different as we need to improve in some areas if we want to win over Fleming College next week."

"Our big moment came with a 10 minute goal-line stance. The guys showed great character, didn't panic, just continued to battle," said Steacy.

With the win, the Vikings improve to 2-1 and are now tied for third in the Ontario Colleges Athletics Association (OCAA) East Division with Algonquin College.

SLC has three games remaining on the schedule and will need to win two of three to have a solid chance at reaching the post-season.

The Vikings host the Fleming College Knights on Saturday, Oct. 4 at 3 p.m.
