GEORGE BROWN 3, DURHAM 1

TORONTO, Ont. – The Durham College men's volleyball team suffered their first loss of the season as they were upended 3-1 by the George Brown Huskies.

After earning a 25-19 opening set victory, the Lords could not stay on track as George Brown won the next three sets by scores of 25-23, 26-24 and 25-20.

Jeremy Hoekstra led Durham in scoring with 10 kills in the game while Brad VanHartingsveldt had six.

Libero Dan Popovich had a game-high 19 digs for the Lords.

Durham's offence struggled to find a way to beat Shaun Lasala who had seven blocks for Geroge Brown. He added 10 kills and three aces to his totals for 20 points.

George Brown has been up and down early in the season. After finishing in second place at the Durham College Thanksgiving Adidas Cup, they fell 3-0 to the Fleming Knights in their season opener. Since that loss, the Huskies have turned things around with two straight wins over Trent and Durham.

The Lords fall to 1-1 to start the season and will have over a week off with their next match scheduled for Friday, Nov. 8 against the Algonquin Thunder.
