MOHAWK 3, FANSHAWE 0

HAMILTON, Ont. - The Mohawk men won, but the women lost in volleyball action against Fanshawe at the David Braley Athletic and Recreation Centre on Friday (Nov. 15).

The Mountaineer men swept the Falcons 26-24, 25-21, 25-15. Bryce Marcussen had eight kills and two stuff blocks for the home side. Brad Regier put together seven kills, one service ace and two blocks, while Marcin Jedrzejewski had eight kills.

Mathieu Poulin led Fanshawe with nine kills and one block.

With the result, the Mountaineers improved to 2-3 while the Falcons slipped to 3-2.

In the women's game Fanshawe scored an entertaining 25-23, 20-25, 25-22, 25-18 decision.

Chi Chi Chuks-Mady had 14 kills, two aces and six digs for Mohawk. Kristin Bialachowski contributed 11 kills and one ace.

For Fanshawe, Kaitlyn Kelly scored 15 kills, one ace and one block, while Shelby Charlton had eight kills, three aces and four blocks.

Fanshawe upped its mark to 4-1 while Mohawk fell to 2-3.

HAMILTON, Ont. - The Fanshawe Falcons (3-2) fell to the Mohawk Mountaineers (2-3) in straight sets Friday night.

Fanshawe now sits in fifth place in the OCAA's West Division. Fanshawe had a 24-23 lead in the first set but Mohawk came back scoring three straight points to take a one-set lead.

The Falcons couldn't come back and dropped the next two sets 25-21 and 25-15.

Mathieu Poulin led the Falcon offence with nine kills.

The Falcons host both the Redeemer Royals (4-1) and the Sheridan Bruins (0-4) this coming weekend.

In their first match, Fanshawe hosts the Royals on Friday night at 8 p.m. Redeemer is currently third in the OCAA West Division and are led by Eric Heidbuurt and David Klomps, who both average 4.0 points per set.

Sheridan comes to town on Sunday to play the Falcons at 3 p.m. Sheridan is still looking for its first win of the season and are led by Josh Butler, who averages 3.1 points per set.
