FANSHAWE 3, CONESTOGA 0

KITCHENER, Ont. - The Fanshawe Falcons (1-1) won their first match of the regular season Sunday versus the Conestoga Condors (0-2). Fanshawe now sits in a four-way tie for third in the OCAA West Division.

Fanshawe dominated the Condors from start to finish, winning the match in three straight sets (25-13, 25-21, 25-15). Mathieu Poulin was the high point man for Fanshawe with 12 kills and two aces, while setter Mark Muehmer finished with 26 assists.

The Falcons have two home games coming up next weekend. In their first match, the Falcons will take the court against the Cambrian Golden Shield (1-1) on Saturday at 8 p.m. Cambrian's Ryan Martel is averaging three points per set this year to lead the Golden Shield.

On Sunday, Fanshawe will host the Boreal Vipers at 3 p.m. The Vipers joined the OCAA West Division this year, making this the first ever league meeting between the two teams.

This season, Boreal has been led by third-year middle blocker Matt Depatie, who is averaging 3.6 points per set, including eight stuff blocks in two matches.
