CANADORE 3, SENECA 2

NORTH BAY, Ont. - The Canadore Panthers men's varsity volleyball team defeated the Seneca Sting in a five-set game in front of a packed crowd today at the Education Centre gymnasium.

Scores were 25-16, 20-25, 25-13, 23-25, 15-11 in favour of Canadore.

Canadore's top scorer was Charlie Hancock with 33 points.

The Panthers started off this game right, dominating the first set. After falling to the Sting in the second set, the men regrouped to win the third by 12 points. The fourth set saw a close game, as the Sting won by only two points to force the fifth and final set, where Canadore managed to capture the critical win to put themselves in a playoff position.

Throughout the five sets, Panthers outside hitter Hancock got 33 kills, which is only three kills shy of the OCAA record 36 kills in a match put up in the 2011-12 season by a Humber player.

Canadore head coach Tim Ryan commented on the game, "It was a super hard fought game today. Charlie Hancock had an outstanding match with 33 kills. The last time we played Seneca, we went to five and lost, and this win was critical as it puts us in a playoff position right now. If we can continue on this streak, we will be in a crossover position."

Panther libero Brian Kennedy was excited about the win tonight, and said, "We had a lot of injuries tonight, but the bench played its part in substitutions throughout the game. It's a big two points for us and we'll take it."
