HUMBER 3, ST. CLAIR 0

ETOBICOKE, Ont. - The Humber Hawks men's volleyball team needed a single win in their last two regular season games in order to clinch the West Division title and direct entry into the 2014 OCAA championship at Georgian in two weeks.

Led by graduating five year stars Andre Brown and Mac Robertson, the Hawks played their best match of the season by knocking off the upstart St. Clair Saints in three straight sets – 25-17, 25-23, 25-14.

Humber burst out of the gate in the first set and were never in trouble at all as they cruised to the opening set victory.

The second set was a ping pong type affair right up until the 20-point mark, but it was the Hawks who persevered and held on to a tight 25-23 win.

The third set was not close at all as the Saints showed some effects from its second game in less than 24 hours. The tired Windsor squad did little to try and stop the Hawks and succumbed 25-14.

It must be noted that the large crowd, made up of over 200 players and parents from the Markham Stingers club, were boisterous and supportive of the home team.

Terrel Bramwell was the only Hawk in double figures as he put a 14 spot on the scoreboard.

Brown and Robertson dominated the middle, on their way to being named co-Humber Hawk Players of the Game.

Humber will now close out the 2013-14 regular season later this week with a road game at Mohawk, before advancing directly to the OCAA championship tournament at Georgian in two weeks.
