DURHAM 3, TRENT 2

PETERBOROUGH, Ont. - During the final stretch of the regular season, the Durham College men's volleyball team has gone the distance with three of their past four games extending to five sets. Wednesday night was no exception as the Lords pulled out a 3-2 victory over the Trent Excalibur to close out their regular season.

With a 16-2 conference record, Durham finishes in second place in the OCAA East region and will host a qualifying game on Saturday, Feb. 15 at 1 p.m. against St. Clair College. The Saints finished in sixth place in the OCAA West region with a 10-8 record. The winner of Saturday's playoff game will advance to the OCAA championship that is being held in Barrie from Feb. 20-22.

After winning the first set by a score of 25-12, it looked as if Durham would cruise to their 16th win of the year. However, Trent had other plans as they took the next two sets 25-22 and 25-22. With their back against the wall, Durham was able to fight back with a 25-21 win of their own. In the fifth and deciding set, Durham and Trent would trade points back and forth with the Lords eventually squeaking out a 22-20 victory.
