MOHAWK 3, LOYALIST 1

HAMILTON, Ont. - The Mohawk Mountaineers have advanced to the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association Men's Volleyball Championship.

The Mountaineers won their qualifying match, 25-20, 25-15, 19-25, 25-21 over the Loyalist Lancers of Belleville, Saturday, Feb. 15, at the David Braley Athletic and Recreation Centre.

Mohawk will meet the Algonquin Thunder of Ottawa in the quarter-finals Thursday, Feb. 20, at Georgian College, host of the 2014 OCAA championship. The Mountaineers are hoping to medal for the fourth year in a row. They took the silver last year, losing to the eventual national champions from Nipissing. Mohawk took home bronze in both the 2010-11 and 2011-12 seasons.

This year's event will run until Saturday with the bronze medal game set for 4 p.m. and the gold medal contest at 6 p.m.
