MOHAWK 3, BOREAL 0

HAMILTON, Ont. - The Mohawk men's and women's volleyball teams scored straight sets wins for the second day in a row Saturday at the David Braley Athletic and Recreation Centre. Coming off Friday's victories over Cambrian, they each scored 3-0 wins over another Sudbury team, Collège Boréal.

The Mohawk women's 25-13, 25-15, 25-14 decision over Les Vipères, was the fourth consecutive sweep for the Mountaineers, who squared their record at 7-7, while Boréal remained winless in 14 tries.

Kaylee Duncan had eight kills for the winners. Chi Chi Chuks-Mady made seven kills and added 15 digs. Alexandra Pulham recorded six kills and one service ace and Corinne McGrath had 30 assists.

For Boréal, Erica Pomeroy had nine kills, while Veronique Brisson had six kills and Josie-Ann Langelier put up 19 assists.

The Mohawk men, meantime, scored their fifth consecutive win, 25-18, 25-17, 25-19 over winless Boréal. The Mountaineers, who improved to 10-4, showed their depth as they went almost exclusively with their bench for this one. Jason Mueller had seven kills and three stuff blocks. John Zimmerman had seven kills, one ace and one block. Nhat Nguyen contributed eight kills and Ben Tonin had 20 assists.

Boréal was led by Eric Cayen's six kills. Marc Leclair had four kills and one block and Alin Roy produced 11 assists.
