FANSHAWE 3, CONESTOGA 0

LONDON, Ont. - On Tuesday night, the CCAA No. 7 nationally-ranked Fanshawe Falcons (11-3) defeated the Conestoga Condors (1-12) in three straight sets 25-11, 25-18, 25-18. The Falcons are currently in third place in the OCAA West Division.

After being tied at four, Fanshawe's Mathieu Poulin served up five straight and put the Falcons in control of the first set. Middle blocker Scott Brannigan had a huge stuff block on the Condors attack, putting the Falcons up by double digits. Fanshawe went on to win the set by a final score of 25-11 behind great defence, including five stuff blocks.

The Falcons were fired up in the second, jumping out to a 10-3 lead. Fanshawe's Jordan MacNeil had a massive block pushing the Falcons lead to nine. The Condors made a great run and were within four but again defence was the key, as the Falcons held on and won the second set 25-18.

In the third, no team led by more than two until the Falcons put together five straight and took control of the set at 21-16. Back to back aces by Brannigan gave Fanshawe a six-point lead and the Falcons won the set by a final score of 25-18.

Fanshawe heads on the road to Humber College on Thursday, Jan. 30 for a huge match against the CCAA No. 2-ranked Hawks (13-1). The game takes place at 8 p.m.
