CANADORE 3, LOYALIST 1

BELLEVILLE, Ont. - The Canadore Panthers men's varsity volleyball team defeated the Loyalist Lancers, after losing the first set, in four total sets.

Canadore's top scorer was Charlie Hancock with 17 points.

After losing to the Loyalist Lancers in their first game of the season, the Panthers rebounded to show how much they have grown, by taking the match in four sets with scores of 19-25, 25-23, 25-23, 25-22.

Three of the top scorers for the Panthers took away double digit points in some very impressive performances, including Hancock with 13 kills, three aces and a block; Mitch Gardiner with eight kills, four aces and two blocks; and Dave Mann with eight kills, one ace and three blocks.

Gardiner, one of the players of the game, commented on their win, "We started off rough in the first then played more consistent volleyball in the second. I had a few aces in that set, which refocused me and added momentum that never died. I focused on defence which helped my brother Jordan distribute the ball effectively."

His brother, and the other MVP, Jordan Gardiner, added, "I was able to run an offence today instead of just running a few key players. It was a total team effort and it feels really good."
