TRENT 3, SENECA 1

TORONTO - The second consolation semifinal was an exciting match between host Seneca Sting and the Trent Excalibur. Home court advantage was not enough for the Sting as the Excalibur won the match 3-1 (25-19, 20-25, 25-23, 25-22).

The first set was a battle. Seneca fed off the home crowd, taking an 11-8 lead. The Excalibur would not lay down, scoring nine of the final 11 points to take the opening set.

The Sting came out firing in the second set with three straight points to start the set, growing their lead to as much as six. Trent kept fighting back, cutting their deficit down to two. The offence of the Sting would not stop be stopped as the Sting never trailed in the set and went on to even the match.

The Sting came out flying in the third set, jumping to a 4-0 lead. Their offence seemed flawless as they opened up an early seven-point lead. The Excalibur battled back to tie the set 17-17. From there, the teams would swap points until the Excalibur rallied off four straight points to take the lead and eventually finish off the third set.

The Excalibur's momentum carried over to the third set as they opened a 14-7 lead. Seneca used the energy from the home crowd to get back into the set and knot things up at 21. With all of the momentum on the opposite side of the net, the Excalibur regrouped to win the set and close out the match.

Trent advances to play the Fleming Knights in the consolation final tomorrow at 12 p.m. The Sting saw their season come to an end following a 16-4 regular season.
