DURHAM 61, CENTENNIAL 59 (FINAL)

SCARBOROUGH, Ont. – The Durham College women's basketball team spoiled Centennial's grand opening of their new facility on Wednesday night as they defeated the Colts 61-59.

Durham was led by Erin Emery of North Bay who was clutch in the late stages of the game as the Lords escaped with the two-point victory. Emery had a team high 24 points in the win, bringing her career total to 796.

Emery sits third in the Durham College all-time scoring charts and eighth in the history of the OCAA. She trails Dana Marley of Georgian College who scored 807 points in her five year career.

Kelsey Hare (Whitby, Ont.) also had a big night for Durham as she recorded a double-double with 18 points and 12 rebounds. Keriann Sullivan made her regular season debut as she scored 10 points and added seven rebounds playing in her hometown.

The Lords got off to a great start in the game, as they held 39-26 lead at halftime after going 9-for-9 at the free throw line.

Durham is 1-0 to start the regular season while Centennial sits at 0-1.

The Lords next action will be on the road on Thursday, November 9 as they take on the Georgian Grizzlies.
