SENECA 84, DURHAM 42 (FINAL)

NORTH YORK, Ont. – The Durham College women's basketball team lost their first conference game of the year as they were defeated by the No. 1 ranked Seneca Sting in North York on Friday night.

Both teams entered the game with matching 2-0 records, but the Sting proved why they are the top ranked team in Ontario as they cruised to their third win of the year.

"It was a disappointing result coming after the big wins to start the season," said Durham head coach Tim Baulk. "We will refocus and practice hard for our home opener against Algonquin next week."

Kelsey Hare (Whitby, Ont.) led Durham in scoring with 16 points in the loss. Hare is averaging 15.3 points per game this season.

Keriann Sullivan (Scarborough, Ont.) had 10 points for Durham while Erin Emery (North Bay, Ont.) scored nine.

Lauren Egglestone led Seneca's well-balanced scoring attack with 16 points.

Durham could not get into a rhythm as they were 11-for-58 from the field including going 0-for-8 from beyond the arc. Durham also turned the ball over 26 times.

The Lords home opener will take place on Friday, November 18 as they take on the Algonquin Thunder. Algonquin is the defending OCAA champions.
