CENTENNIAL 67, GEORGIAN 48

The Georgian Grizzlies women's basketball team got out to a great start in their first road game in Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) play but were unable to hold on falling 67-48, Wednesday night in Scarborough when they faced the Centennial Colts.

Kasey Faulkner was firing out of the gate scoring six points in the first quarter helping lead the Grizzlies to a 17-10 lead, but the Colts found their scoring touch in the second quarter and outmatched Georgian the rest of the night.

The Colts clawed back in the second quarter to take a one point lead at half time with a 26-25 score. In the second half with the game tied at 34 apiece, Centennial used their home court advantage going on a 10-0 scoring run and never turning back.

Mackenzie Merkley put up 11 points to lead the Grizzlies in scoring while teammate Mikaela Weir put up 10 points in the loss.

The Grizzlies will refocus and get ready as they travel to face the Cambrian Golden Shield this Sunday before returning home next Friday, November 16 when they face the Algonquin Thunder at 6 p.m. at the Georgian College Athletic Centre.
