DURHAM 73, GEORGIAN 46

OSHAWA, Ont. – The Durham College women's basketball team earned a 73-46 victory over the Georgian Grizzlies at the Campus Recreation and Wellness Centre on Friday Night.

Durham's defence was the difference maker totaling up 26 steals and forcing 36 Grizzly turnovers over 40 minutes.

The Lords led from start to finish as they took a 15-7 lead after 10 minutes. Durham's offence exploded for 22 points in the second quarter taking a commanding 37-21 lead into halftime.

Although Georgian bounced back in the third quarter outscoring Durham 14-12, the Lords would not give away their lead as they earned the 27-point victory.

Kelsey Hare had her best game of the season scoring 18 points and adding 13 rebounds, six steals and three assists. The fourth year senior showed a lot of hustleleading the team to the win.

Kayla Marshall also saw double-digits in scoring registering 16 points, as she went 6-for-11 from the free throw lines. Alicia Del Fuoco had 11 rebounds including six on the offensive end, as the Lords outrebounded Georgian 56-49.

Kimberly Solorzano was the leading scorer for the Grizzlies with 10 points on the night.

Durham is 2-4 on the year and is in a four-way tie for sixth place with Cambrian, George Brown and Centennial.

The Lords final home game of 2012 is scheduled for Tuesday night against the Seneca Sting. Game time at the CRWC is 6 p.m.
