ST. LAWRENCE (K) 83, FLEMING 33

PETERBOROUGH, Ont. - The St. Lawrence Vikings women's and men's basketball teams travelled to Fleming College on Saturday, January 26 in OCAA regular season action, and both teams would return home with victories.

The women's team played a dominating game, defeating Fleming 83-33. Lacey Knox and Jessica Cetoute both recorded a double-double, and Hayley Gourdier scored 20 points for the Vikings.

The win moves the women's team into a tie with Fanshawe College from the OCAA West Division for second overall in the province, with a game in hand. They remain in second place in the East Division with 20 points, six points behind first place Algonquin College, and four points ahead of third place Loyalist College.

The men's team would also go on to defeat Fleming, winning their game 81-52. Team veteran, Terence Thomas, recorded 29 points and is currently averaging 16.9 points per game (10th in the province).

Emmanuel Bolamba played a great game as well with 16 points and seven rebounds. Defensively, the Vikings played extremely strong forcing Fleming to shoot 26 percent (19-of-73), compared to St. Lawrence going 49 percent (29-of-59).

As a result of defeating Fleming College, the men's team remains tied for fifth in the OCAA East Division with Loyalist College.

The teams are back on the road this weekend, as they face Centennial College on February 1 (women's game at 6 p.m., men's game at 8 p.m.), and George Brown College at February 2 (women's game at 1 p.m., and men's game at 3 p.m.).
