MOHAWK 78, LAMBTON 64

Manny Campbell scored 23 points and Alex Reis added 17, as Mohawk downed Lambton 95-72 in OCAA men's basketball in Sarnia on Saturday (Feb. 9).

The Mountaineers, who led the Lions by only 43-40 at halftime, exploded for 35 third quarter points to blow the game open. Andrew Cicuttini scored 14 points and had eight rebounds, while Jermaine Barr added 13 points and five boards for the Mountaineers who improved to 12-3 and tied for second place in the West Region with Fanshawe. Lambton slipped to 4-12.

The Mohawk women improved to 7-7 with their second straight win - a  78-64 decision over Lambton, 5-10. Natalie Fisher scored 15 points for the Mountaineers. Carissa Browne had 14, while Lacey Wolters scored 11 and added nine rebounds and Katelyn Arbour added 10 points. Riley Williams scored a game high 22 points for the hometown Lions.

"I was really happy with our mental toughness in this game," said Mohawk head coach Kevin Duffy. "Every time we pulled away, Lambton would respond, but our team never panicked. They just stayed with what was working and eventually we were able to pull away for good. Our zone offence was exceptional tonight with a lot of good ball movement and some very timely shooting."
