CAMPBELL-JOHNSON EARNS TOP HONOURS IN OCAA WOMEN'S BASKETBALL

TORONTO - Humber College's Miea Campbell-Johnson (Brampton, Ont.) is the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) Women's Basketball Player of the Year.

The fifth-year centre led Humber to a perfect 8-0 regular season record and an East Division championship. Campbell-Johnson was second in the OCAA averaging 23.6 points per game, scoring a league-best 189 points in an abbreviated campaign. Defensively, she contributed an OCAA-high 98 defensive rebounds and 27 blocks. She also tallied 20 steals. Also named East Division Player of the Year and East Division Defensive Player of the Year, Campbell-Johnson is a Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) All-Canadian and headlines the East Division First-Team All-Stars.

Stephanie Findlay (Oakville, Ont.) of Redeemer is the West Division Player of the Year. The fourth-year forward is the West Division Scoring Champion averaging 23.6 points per game totalling an OCAA-best 189 points for the season. Findlay also grabbed 94 rebounds, 81 off of the defensive glass. Findlay is also a CCAA All-Canadian and a member of the West Division First-Team All-Stars.

Centennial's Abigail Baptiste-Phillip (Toronto, Ont.) is the OCAA Rookie of the Year. Also the OCAA League Scoring Champion, the forward averaged 26.4 points per game totalling 185. She also led the league in rebounding averaging 22.4 boards per game for an OCAA-high 157. The East Division Rookie of the Year and East Division Scoring Champion is also a CCAA All-Canadian, East Division First-Team All-Star, and headlines the East Division All-Rookie Team.

Niagara's Christopher Rao is the OCAA Coach of the Year. The Knights finished in second place in the West Division with a 7-1 record, a much improved record compared to a 4-14 mark in 2019-20. The West Division Coach of the Year is also the nominee for CCAA Coach of the Year.

Janee Harrison (St. Catharines, Ont.) of Niagara is the West Division Rookie of the Year. Harrison averaged a team-best 13.9 points per game totalling 111. She also contributed 68 rebounds, 17 steals and 11 blocks. Harrison is also a West Division First-Team All-Star and headlines the West Division All-Rookie Team.

Jaime McLean of Algonquin is the East Division Coach of the Year. The Wolves finished in second place in the East Division with a record of 7-1, ending the regular season on a six-game winning streak.

Niagara's Terin Hultink (Fenwick, Ont.) is the West Division Defensive Player of the Year. The second-year forward contributed 82 rebounds, 14 steals and seven blocks as Niagara allowed a league-low 50.1 points against per game. Hultink is also a West Division Second-Team All-Star.

The East Division Sixth Woman of the Year is Jasmin Onate (Mississauga, Ont.) of Humber. The first-year guard scored 26 points while contributing 24 rebounds, four steals and a block in six games.

The West Division Sixth Woman of the Year is Bre'Aira Burton (Saginaw, Mich.) of West Division champion St. Clair. The third-year guard scored 55 points while contributing 28 rebounds, seven steals and one block in eight games.

In addition to Campbell-Johnson and Baptiste-Phillip, OCAA East Division First-Team All-Stars include Algonquin's Dasia McDonald (Nepean, Ont.); and Humber's Brittney English (Toronto, Ont.) and Kia Watt (Toronto, Ont.).

Joining Findlay and Harrison as OCAA West Division First-Team All-Stars are Conestoga's Charlotte Clifford (Cambridge, Ont.); and St. Clair's Jana Kucera (Chatham, Ont.) and Logan Kucera (Chatham, Ont.).

The OCAA East Division Second-Team All-Stars include Durham's Brianna Morrison (Oshawa, Ont.); George Brown's Mariam Konate (Scarborough, Ont.); Loyalist's Ali Alexander (Toronto, Ont.) and Daija Thompson (Whitby, Ont.); and St. Lawrence's Melissa Gilligan (Cornwall, Ont.).

Along with Hultink, OCAA West Division Second-Team All-Stars include Fanshawe's Alison Cotton (London, Ont.); Lambton's Breanna Pretty (Sarnia, Ont.), Redeemer's Jessica Angelini (Hamilton, Ont.) and Sheridan's Danyelle Campbell (North York, Ont.).

Joining Baptiste-Phillip on the East Division All-Rookie Team are Algonquin's McDonald; Durham's Onika Leveridge (Scarborough, Ont.) and Morrison; and Humber's Sarah Baptie (Mississauga, Ont.).

Joining Harrison on the West Division All-Rookie Team are Mohawk's Celina Chung (Oakville, Ont.); Niagara's Jamira Rousseau (Welland, Ont.); Redeemer's Karyn TeBrake (Ottawa, Ont.); and Sheridan's Campbell.
