STACEY BREAKS ANOTHER OCAA WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL RECORD

Nipissing University’s Megan Stacey continues to set new benchmarks in the OCAA as she broke Claire Bramma’s record of 705 career points with a 34 point performance in a pair of weekend volleyball games. Stacey now sits at 108 points midway through the season bringing her career total to 717. Stacey has eclipsed 6 OCAA records in two and half years and is set to break her seventh as she needs 11 kills to break Bramma’s career kill record of 587.

Stacey a 6’1” middle player enters her third season and boasts a list of impressive accomplishments including twice been named OCAA female volleyball player of the year, All-Canadian, OCAA all-star and Nipissing Female Athlete of the Year.

“Megan is a very gifted athlete,” said head coach Marc LaRochelle. “Megan has a great court sense and can find a way to score even when her opponents key in on her. Megan is good team player and is the first person to acknowledge that she couldn’t accomplish these great feats without the support of her teammates.”

“I think Megan is maturing as a player and as a team leader and will continue to get better.” added LaRochelle

The Lakers squad is off to a solid start with a 6-1 record. The Lakers only defeat came at the hands of the number one ranked Humber Hawks as they took the much anticipated match-up of the top two ranked teams in the OCAA 3 games to 1. The Lakers will travel to Sault Ste. Marie to face the Cougars on December 8th to conclude the first half of the season.
