HUMBER 3, NIAGARA 1 (FINAL)

The No. 5 ranked Niagara College Knights women's volleyball team lost 3-1 (25-15, 22-25, 25-10, 25-5) to the No. 1 ranked Humber College Hawks in the season opener on Thursday night in Etobicoke, Ont.

The loss to the four-time defending OCAA Champions in their season opener had a silver lining for the Niagara women. Their 25-22 victory in the second set was the first decision they took from a Humber team that swept them 3-0 in two exhibition games.

"We really struggled on the passing line tonight, which made it tough for our team to run the offence we want to," said head coach Joey Martins.

Lindsay Murray (Welland, Ont.), a transfer after playing her rookie season at Brock University, led the Knights with eight kills and two aces.

Niagara will be back in action on Wednesday, November 9 when they host the Redeemer University College Royals (0-1) in the Knights home opener. Game time is 6 p.m.
