NIAGARA 3, REDEEMER 1 (FINAL)

The Niagara College Knights Women's Volleyball team (1-1) won their 2011-2012 home opener in four sets against the Redeemer University College Royals (0-2) on Wednesday night. The Royals would win the first set 25-22, before the Knights stormed back to win the next three sets (25-17, 25-20, 25-16) and the match.

First-year outside hitter Lindsay Murray (Welland, Ont.) led the Knights in scoring with 11 kills, five aces, and two blocks for 18 points. She also had 13 digs. Third-year middle Marieka Ouimette contributed with four kills, two serving aces, and six stuffed blocks for 12 points.

The Knights will be back in action on Wednesday, November 16 when they host the Sheridan College Bruins. Game time is 6 p.m.

There will be a special pre-game ceremony to recognize 17 Niagara College student-athletes, who won 2010-2011 CCAA National Scholar Awards.
