NIAGARA 3, ST. CLAIR 1 (FINAL)

The St. Clair College men's and women's volleyball teams wrapped up their regular season schedules on Sunday afternoon when they hosted the Niagara Knights at the St. Clair gym.

The women's team fell by a score of 3-1 in a very exciting match. Game scores for Niagara were 21-25, 25-22, 25-17 and 25-18. St. Clair was led by Deanna Harris with seven kills, one stuff block and 18 digs. Alee Brecka had a solid match as well with six kills, one stuff block, one service ace and six digs.

The Saints record slipped to 6-12 on the season while Niagara improved to 10-7. The Knights are currently ranked fifth in Ontario. The Saints are going to end up in seventh place, one spot out of the playoffs.

In the men's match, the Saints lost to Niagara by a score of 3-0. Game scores for the Knights were 25-21, 25-22 and 25-17. Curtis Lock led the Saints with 13 kills, two stuff blocks, and five digs.

With the loss the Saints record fell to 1-17 while Niagara improved their record to 5-12.

It was a tough season for both squads in the very competitive OCAA West Division. However, the men were a very young team with eight rookies and are expecting of 12 of their 13 players eligible to return next season. The women are also expecting a large group back with nine of their 12 players eligible to return.
