GEORGIAN 3, NIAGARA 1 (FINAL)

BARRIE, Ont. - The Niagara College Knights women's volleyball team had their 2011-2012 season come to an end with a 3-1 loss (25-23, 25-16, 19-25, 25-19) to the Georgian College Grizzlies in the OCAA championship bronze medal quarter-final game on Friday afternoon in Barrie, Ont.

Niagara would drop the first two sets to the championship host Grizzlies, but would rally in the third set to avoid being swept.

Natalie Buck (Keswick, Ont.) had a game-high 16 points for the Grizzlies with 10 kills, four aces, and two blocks.

Outside hitter Jenna Bray (Burlington, Ont.) was the top scorer for the Knights with 11 kills, an ace, and three blocks for 15 points.

"Georgian is a good team with a good coaching staff," said head coach Joey Martins, who was named coach of the year in the OCAA West region on Thursday morning.

"Once you get to Provincials, anyone can win. This tournament was fun for all of us. Even though we didn't reach our final goal to medal, it does not take away from the fact that we accomplished many of our team goals."

The Knights, who missed making the playoffs last season, finished in fourth place in the OCAA West region with a record of 10-8.
