GEORGIAN 3, FLEMING 1

BARRIE, Ont. - Looking for their fourth straight Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) victory, the Georgian Grizzlies didn't disappoint their home fans defeating the Fleming Knights 3-1 on Saturday afternoon at the Georgian College Athletic and Fitness Centre in Barrie.

Georgian jumped out to an early lead in the first set and tried to make quick work of the Knights, but Fleming started to chip away at the Grizzlies lead. For Fleming it was too much ground to make up falling 25-15 to the home team in the first set.

The second set was much the same as the later part of the first set with both teams battling for points. Thanks to some great play by last week's OCAA overall female athlete of the week, Georgian's Allison Marshall (seven points on the day) the Grizzlies were able to pull out a 25-21 set win.

Full credit to the Fleming Knights as they wouldn't quit rebounding in the third set to pull out a 25-18 win to send the match to a fourth set while giving the Grizzlies some doubt about the final outcome.

Grizzlies head coach Brad Graham got his team to regroup between sets and they were able to pull out a score of 25-19 to win the set and the match.

Georgian used a balanced attack with ten different women putting up points in the match, led by Midland native Kelsey Buckley who had a 12 point effort which included 10 kills on the afternoon.

The Grizzlies women now move their record to 5-1 on the season and will continue their busy weekend when they host the team ahead of them in the standings the 6-1 Trent Excalibur Sunday at noon at the Georgian Athletic and Fitness Centre.
