GEORGIAN 3, LOYALIST 1

BELLEVILLE, Ont. - After falling into a mini slump the Georgian Grizzlies women's volleyball team found themselves back on top with an impressive 3-1 victory Saturday afternoon against the Loyalist Lancers in Belleville, Ont.

It was an important game for the Grizzlies as they had lost two tight matches recently and both teams were looking for their sixth win on the season.

The Grizzlies came out firing out the gate en route to a 25-20 first set victory and battled hard in the second earning a crucial set win with a 26-24 tie break score to take a commanding lead.

Loyalist was not going to roll over at home and battled to earn a 25-22 set win in the third but that was as far as they could get falling 25-15 in the fourth set giving the Grizzlies the match.

Erin McClean was dominant for the Grizzlies in this match with 16 points including 12 kills on the afternoon. The Grizzlies also had great efforts from Allison Marshall (11 points), Hannah Campbell (nine), Natalie Buck (nine) and Mackenzie Roy who put up eight points and made some key saves on her side of the court with seven digs.

The Grizzlies now have a 6-3 record on the season and will wrap up their first half this Wednesday, Dec. 5 when they travel to face the George Brown Huskies.
