DURHAM 3, LOYALIST 0

OSHAWA, Ont. – The Durham College women's volleyball team is heading into the holidays on an eight game winning streak as they swept the Loyalist Lancers 3-0 on Wednesday night at the CRWC.

It was a big night for veteran Kerri Fotherby (Newcastle, Ont.) who reached the 500 point plateau in a Durham College uniform. Fotherby is 30 career points behind Karlene Riseborough-Barnes for third on the Lords scoring charts. Assistant coach Mandi Doris is first in Durham College scoring with 773 career points.

Durham College athlete of the week Leah Saar led Durham in points as she recorded 14 in the win. Saar, who had 12 kills, is averaging 3.3 points per set which ranks her third in the OCAA east region.

Melissa Semeniuk also had a standout game for the Lords with 11 points including four blocks. On the defensive end of the court, Libero Colleen McRobert had a game high 12 digs.

Amy Parker paced the Lancers offence with eight points including seven kills.

Set scores in the match were 26-24, 25-20 and 25-21.

Durham is 9-1 in the first half of the season, tied with Trent University for first place in the OCAA east region. Loyalist is 5-5 on the year and in sixth place.

The Lords next action will be in 2013 when they host the 25th annual Adidas Cup. This year's tournament is taking place from January 4-5 and will feature 16 of the top teams from Canadian collegiate volleyball.
