DURHAM 3, FLEMING 0

OSHAWA, Ont. – The Durham College women's volleyball team improved to 10-1 on Wednesday night with a 3-0 sweep over the visiting Fleming Knights.

In the first set, the Lords started off hot leading 12-3 and continued on to take the set by a score of 25-16.

Contrary to the first set, the Knights were able to challenge the Lords in the second and led 8-7 early on. As both teams traded punches midway through the set, Fleming battled back from a 22-18 deficit before tying the game at 22. However, the Lords were too much to handle and went on to take the set by a score of 25-23.

In the third set, Durham completed the sweep with a 25-19 victory to earn their ninth straight win.

Leading the way for Durham included Leah Saar (Pickering, Ont.) who finished the match with 12 kills and Natasha Jakovljevic (Oshawa, Ont.) who had five aces in the victory. Saar had a team-high eight digs for Durham.

For Fleming, Taylor Lyford (Oshawa, Ont.) had nine digs and four offensive points while Kristy Hill (Peterborough, Ont.) finished the match 10 digs.

Durham's next game is on the road against the George Brown Huskies on Wednesday, January 16. The first place Lords will host Seneca College (6-5) on Thursday, January 24 at 6 p.m.
