NIPISSING 3, REDEEMER 1

HAMILTON, Ont. - The Nipissing Lakers women's volleyball team improved to 9-2 on the season a pair of road victories over the Redeemer Royals and Mohawk Mountaineers.

Friday, the Lakers fought off some inconsistent play to defeat the Royals 3-1 (25-13, 18-25, 25-9, 28-26). Fourth-year middle player Jacquie Dyball led the Lakers offence with 17 points while second-year right side Brittany Ardron added 14.

Saturday the Lakers swept the Mohawk Mountaineers 3-0 (25-13, 25-19, 25-18). Ardron led Nipissing with 10 kills and one ace while first year middle Brittany MacComish had seven kills and one block.

"Consistency remains our biggest issue," said Nipissing head coach Marc LaRochelle. "We have a lot of work ahead of us in the next month if we want our results to match our goals. Each player will have to take it upon themselves to play and execute at a higher level."

The Lakers will be hosting a pair of crucial home games this weekend as the Sheridan Bruins (5-5) and Fanshawe Falcons (9-2) visit the Surtees Athletic Centre. Games are scheduled for Saturday and Sunday begin at noon.
