DURHAM 3, GEORGE BROWN 0

TORONTO – The first place Durham College women's volleyball team earned a 3-0 win against the George Brown Huskies in Toronto on Wednesday Night. Set scores were 25-20, 25-9 and 25-23.

Durham improved to 11-1 in OCAA conference action and have won 10 straight games with the past four being 3-0 sweeps.

The Lords are in first place in the OCAA east region as they are the only team with one loss. Trent and Cambrian are close behind with two losses apiece this season.

Leah Saar (Pickering, Ont.) posted a match-high seven kills for Durham, while OCAA volleyball athlete of the week Natasha Jakovljevic (Oshawa, Ont.) had 11 points. Jakovljevic finished with four kills, four aces and three blocks. Stephanie Larose of Whitby had a career high 10 digs in the win.

Irus Su Wong was the Huskies leading scorer with seven kills.

Durham will look to extend their winning streak on Friday night when they travel to Belleville to take on the Loyalist Lancers (5-7). First serve at the Lancerdome is 6 p.m.

The Lords next home game is on Thursday, January 24 against the Seneca Sting (6-6). Game time at the CRWC is 6 p.m.
