SUDBURY, Ont. – The Durham College women's volleyball team's 16 game winning streak came to an end on Sunday morning as they were swept by Cambrian College by a score of 3-0.

Despite the loss, the Lords (17-2) will have a shot at winning their first regional title since 2010 when they host the Trent Excalibur on Wednesday, February 13 in their regular season finale. First serve at the CRWC is 6 p.m.

Earlier in the weekend, the Lords booked a trip to the OCAA championship with a 3-0 win over the Boreal Viperes. Durham will either finish in first or second place in the OCAA East region, claiming an automatic bye to the championship.

Durham controlled the game over Boreal from start to finish, winning by set scores of 25-16, 25-14 and 25-14.

Eleven players saw court time for Durham with every player scoring at least one point. Freshman outside hitter Rayan Bourne (Whitby, Ont.) led the way with 11 points in just one set played while Colleen McRobert (Whitby, Ont.) had 11 digs.

In Sunday's match against the defending OCAA silver medalist Golden Shield, the Lords played hard but were unable to earn a set victory as Cambrian won by scores of 25-22, 25-20 and 26-24.

OCAA all-time leading scorer Shawna Metcalf had a game-high 14 points in the win while Kelsey Fielding had 11. Deanna Bedard had a match high 18 digs.

Leah Saar (Pickering, Ont.) had a strong match for Durham with 12 kills while Bourne led the team in scoring with nine kills, three aces and one block.

Durham is 17-2 in conference action this season with a 1-1 record against Cambrian who sits in second place with a 16-3 record.
