GEORGIAN 3, LOYALIST 0

BARRIE, Ont. - The Georgian Grizzlies women's volleyball team opened their 2013-14 Ontario Colleges Athletic Association (OCAA) regular season with an impressive victory at home Friday night at the Georgian Athletic Centre.

Hosting the visiting Loyalist Lancers from Belleville, the Grizzlies were able to control play from start to finish leading to a clean 3-0 sweep.

Coming off a fourth place finish at last year's OCAA championship, the Grizzlies plan on being a contender once again this season and with set wins of 25-12, 25-17 and 25-16, Georgian has started exactly how they wanted.

Last year's Georgian Female Athlete of the Year Natalie Buck had a very strong game in her season debut. The native of Keswick led the team in kills (11), serving aces (4) and stuff blocks (3) as she continues to get better now in her fifth year.

The Grizzlies also had solid performances from veterans Kelsey Buckley (Midland) and Mackenzie Roy (Barrie).

Next up for Georgian will be a trip east next weekend as they face the Algonquin Thunder and La Cité Coyotes in Ottawa for a pair of games Friday and Saturday.
