ST. CLAIR 3, NIAGARA 1

The St. Clair women's volleyball team had a good weekend as they split their first two regular season matches on the road.

On Saturday, the Saints travelled to Hamilton, Ont., to take on the Mohawk Mountaineers. Unfortunately, St. Clair lost a close game 3-2 in their first match of the season. Game scores for Mohawk were 18-25, 25-11, 25-19, 23-25 and 15-5. Rachel Rivers (Cambridge/Galt Collegiate) led the way offensively for St. Clair with 10 kills, two service aces, one stuff block and 22 digs. Monica Roch (Windsor/E.J. Lajeunesse) had a solid game defensively with 22 digs. Mohawk improved their record to 2-1 with the win.

On Sunday, St. Clair travelled to Welland, Ont., to do battle with the Niagara Knights. The Saints rebounded well from their loss the previous night defeating the Knights 3-1 and handing Niagara their first loss of the season. Game scores for St. Clair were 25-15, 28-26, 22-25 and 26-24. Rivers led the way offensively once again with 23 kills and three service aces. Niagara's record fell to 2-1 with the loss. Setter Desiree Redding (Windsor/Southfield Lathrup) had a solid game with 28 assists and 22 digs.

The Saints will open their home schedule this coming weekend. St. Clair will host two new members to the OCAA West Division. On Saturday, the Saints will host Boreal College at 2 p.m. and on Sunday St. Clair will host Cambrian College at 12 noon.
