FANSHAWE 3, ST. CLAIR 0

WINDSOR, Ont. - The St. Clair College varsity volleyball teams ended their semester on a losing note on Wednesday night at the St. Clair gym but still ended the first half with winning records.

Both teams were hosting their rival Fanshawe.

The St. Clair women dropped a tough match to the Falcons by a score of 3-0. Game scores for Fanshawe were 25-19, 25-17, and 25-16. Kaleigh MacKenzie (Windsor/Holy Names) led the Saints with five kills on 14 attacks.

With the loss the St. Clair women fell to 5-4 on the season and are tied for fourth place in the OCAA West Division while Fanshawe improved to 8-1 and are alone in second place. The Falcons are ranked second in Ontario and 13th in Canada.

The St. Clair men fell to the Falcons by a score of 3-0 as well. All three sets were close but the Saints could not manage to win any of them over Fanshawe. Game scores for Fanshawe were 25-23, 25-19 and 25-21.

Travis Wigle (Kingsville) had a solid match with seven kills in 11 attacks. He also chipped in with four stuff blocks.

The St. Clair men are 5-4 and in fourth place in the OCAA West Division. The Falcons improved to 6-3 with the win. St. Clair is ranked ninth in Ontario while Fanshawe is ranked fifth in Ontario and 13th in Canada.

Both volleyball teams are now out of action until early January for the holidays and for final exams.
