CANADORE 3, ALGONQUIN 1

NORTH BAY, Ont. - The Canadore Panthers women's varsity volleyball team kicked off the second semester with a win over the Algonquin Thunder in four sets today in the Education Centre gymnasium.

Scores were 25-15, 25-20, 16-25, 25-17 in favour of Canadore.

Canadore head coach Stefanie Hancock says, "When we played Algonquin in Ottawa, we took them in five sets, so it was nice to refocus after the third set loss today and see the girls rebuild on communication and go back to our strong defensive system to take the fourth much stronger."

Newcomer and middle player Carrie Ryan started her Panthers career off strong, earning the most points on the Canadore team, for a total of 17, including one service ace and four blocks. Kayla Kosturik, Mackenzie Mills, Liarra Marchand and Lauren Kuehni also finished the game with two serving aces a piece to help the Panthers win the game.

Ryan commented on the game, "After not playing for many years, it was nice to get on the court with a really great bunch of girls. I feel we played really well as a team and the end result came out in our favour."
