BARRIE, Ont. - It was a night of mixed results but with great efforts for the Georgian Grizzlies men's and women's volleyball teams on Wednesday when they hosted the George Brown Huskies at the Georgian Athletic Centre.

The Georgian women's team put together another impressive performance against the Huskies, dominating play from beginning to end leading to a 3-0 victory (25-18, 25-13, 25-19).

Erin McClean (Barrie) continued her remarkable season scoring 12 points while adding seven digs. Teammate Allison Marshall (Orillia) matched McClean with a team-high 12 points in the victory.

The Grizzlies are now 13-3 on the season and hold the third seed in the OCAA East Division standings with just two games remaining.

Georgian's men's team was in a tight battle against the Huskies all night long but came out on the losing end to George Brown.

The game featured some tremendous back and forth play between the two teams in a match that was closer than the final 3-1 score indicated with sets of 28-26, 25-22, 20-25 and 28-26.

George Brown's John Luu (Mississauga) led the Huskies with 21 points. The Grizzlies had big efforts from Lyndon Sonego (Barrie) and Jason Grimm (Orangeville) who had 21 and 20 points respectively while Adam Bielby (Barrie) had 27 assists.

The Grizzlies winning streak came to an end at three games but they still hold a 9-7 record which puts them in fifth place in the East Division standings.

It was the final home game for several graduating players. Veronica Harrison, Amanda Smith, Erin McClean, Natalie Buck, Lyndon Sonego, Chris Jackson and Michael Vandinther were each honoured prior to the start of their games for their hard work and dedication in solid college athletic careers.

The Grizzlies will wrap up their regular season with a trip to face the Durham Lords on Thursday before heading to face the Canadore Panthers on Sunday.

Potential playoff matches will be determined following the final games. The Grizzlies men's team will play in the OCAA Men's Volleyball Championship as the event will be hosted at Georgian College from Feb. 20-22.
