GEORGIAN 3, ST. CLAIR 1

BARRIE, Ont. - A thunderous crowd came out to the support the Georgian Grizzlies women's volleyball team as they hosted the St. Clair Saints in a crossover playoff game on Saturday afternoon.

With a trip to the Ontario Colleges Athletic Association championship on the line for the winner, both teams gave all they had with their seasons in jeopardy.

Georgian made the first strike taking the first set 25-17 looking very strong with veteran Hannah Campbell (Midland) putting up points early.

The two teams then traded sets with the Saints coming right back with a 25-21 win but the Grizzlies responded 25-14 in the third set to take a big 2-1 lead in the match.

The fourth set was more back and forth action. The Grizzlies got up early but after a Saints timeout, St. Clair rebounded to take the lead. As the Saints got close to taking the set, Georgian called a timeout of their own. Natalie Buck (Keswick) came out firing to help the Grizzlies even the score.

Extra points were needed but the Grizzlies were able to take the set 28-26 and the match 3-1.

Campbell led the Grizzlies with 21 points while Buck was impressive with a 17-point effort.

The win moves the Grizzlies onto the OCAA Women's Volleyball Championship hosted by Durham College in Oshawa which takes place Feb. 20-22.
