CONESTOGA 3, CANADORE 2

GUELPH, Ont. - The Canadore Panthers women's varsity volleyball team fell short in a five-set game to the Conestoga Condor today at the Guelph campus.

The Panthers played their crossover game today in competition for a berth at the OCAA championship tournament against the Conestoga Condors. The fourth place team in the West Division proved to be a good match-up with the fourth place East Division Panthers as they came out strong, winning the first two sets. The Panthers were able to regroup and come back, winning the next two sets, forcing a fifth and final deciding set. Unable to keep their momentum, the Panthers fell just short of the win.

With today's loss, Canadore will not move on to the provincial championships, as their 2013-14 season comes to a close. Despite the outcome of today's game, the Panthers managed to make it further this year than in many years past, earning a higher ranking, after moving to the East Division. The girls played strong this year and finished their season with a total of 13 wins and six losses.

The Panthers say farewell to two graduating players, who will not be returning next year, including right side hitter Liza Grennon, and middle hitter Carrie Ryan. Both of these players were huge contributing factors to the impressive record held by a team that could not even earn one win the previous year.
