CAMBRIAN 3, MOHAWK 1

HAMILTON, Ont. - Mohawk had a win and loss against Cambrian of Sudbury, Ont., in OCAA volleyball at the David Braley Athletic and Recreation Centre Saturday afternoon.

The Mountaineer men swept the Golden Shield 25-16, 25-22, 25-18, as Bradley Regier had 16 kills, three stuff blocks and six digs. Trevor McLaughlin recorded 13 kills and three digs. Charlie Hancock produced nine kills, one service ace and four digs and Mark Kaveckas had 35 assists to go with three kills, one block and four digs.

For Cambrian, Hayden Kosmerly had 20 points, one ace and eight digs.

Mohawk improved its record to 7-1, while Cambrian slipped to 2-7.

It was a much different story in the women's match which Cambrian won 25-23, 19-25, 25-19, 25-14.

Sara Charlton led the Golden Shield with six kills, three aces and seven digs. Hayley Chisholm had six kills and 12 digs and Kelsey Watson notched five kills, three aces, two blocks and five digs. Stacy Carter had 32 assists, one kill, one ace and five digs.

For the Mountaineers, Kirsten Bialachowski had 12 kills, one ace and three digs. Chantal Baker came up with seven kills, two aces and 10 digs, and Kristin VanHartingsveldt produced seven kills, two aces and three blocks. Kaylee Duncan recorded six kills, one ace and two blocks. Lynsay Collette had 29 assists, 10 digs and two blocks to go with two kills and an ace.

While the Mohawk women's record slipped to 2-6, Cambrian moved to 4-5.
