NIAGARA 3, FANSHAWE 0

LONDON, Ont. - The Fanshawe Falcons (3-6) lost to the Niagara Knights (7-2) Thursday evening at the Glenn Johnston Athletic Centre. The Knights won in three straight sets 25-19, 25-18, and 25-23.

Fanshawe took the first point of the game but Niagara dominated early, jumping in front of the Falcons 12-5 and forcing Fanshawe to take time. The Knights continued to push, leading by as many as 12 but the Falcons took their second timeout and came back refocused. The Falcons chipped away including scoring on four straight kills at one point, but it wasn't enough as the Knights took the first set 25-19.

Fanshawe carried the momentum they gained to finish the first set into the second looking for the win. Despite an early lead for the Falcons, the Knights came back and took the lead 7-6. With a number of service errors by both teams, the set stayed close until Niagara scored five straight and took a lead of 23-17. Niagara was able to finish the game with a final score of 25-18.

The Falcons jumped ahead to start the third set with some great plays at the net. The Falcons block was solid and helped Fanshawe to an early 10-5 lead. Niagara closed the gap with some great blocking of their own and tied the game at 15. Both teams battled point for point, but with the game tied 23, Niagara scored the final two points of the game, winning 25-23.
