DURHAM 3, TRENT 1

OSHAWA, Ont. – The fact the Durham College women's volleyball team has improved from Day 1 of the regular season was evident in their 3-1 win on Thursday night at home against Trent.

Opening the season with a 3-0 loss to the same Excalibur team, since that game the Lords have lost only two other matches. With their most recent win against Trent, they're also on a six-game win streak.

Jessica Broad (Courtice, Ont.) led Durham College with 11 kills, while Tess Newey (Hampton, Ont.) picked up 10. Broad also had five service aces and three blocks to lead the Lords.

Courtney Stoffers (Frankford, Ont.) also had three blocks for Durham, while adding three kills.

With six kills apiece, Jamie Fryer and Samantha Belsey led Trent's offence. Sarah MacLaren had three blocks for the Excalibur.

This win puts the Lords into a three-way tie with Trent and Seneca for second place in the OCAA East Division. Durham plays La Cité at home on Saturday at 6 p.m., while Seneca hosts Canadore and Trent hosts Algonquin.
