MOHAWK 3, BOREAL 1

SUDBURY, Ont. - Andrew Dube had seven kills, two stuff blocks and four digs, as the Mohawk men's volleyball team, ranked first in the OCAA, downed Boreal 25-11, 25-19, 25-13 in action Saturday in Sudbury, Ont.

Mirko Smolovic collected six kills, two service aces and two blocks, while Christian Delorme notched four kills, three aces and two blocks. Steven Falk produced three kills, one ace and four digs. Ben Tonin had 15 assists.

Mohawk had a great trip up north, also sweeping Cambrian, 26-24, 25-20, 25-18 Friday.
Charlie Hancock had 14 kills and seven blocks against the Golden Shield, while Bryce Marcussen collected nine kills and three blocks. Tonin had 29 assists.

Mohawk's record jumped to 12-1.

Meanwhile the Mountaineer women improved to 4-9, downing Boreal 29-27, 25-17, 18-25, 25-18. Alexandria Pulham had eight kills, one ace and 12 digs. Kristin VanHartingsveldt produced seven kills, one ace and one stuff block. Jasmine Zanussi had four kills and three aces. Kaylee Duncan and Kirsten Bialachowski each had four kills and Lynsay Colette notched 22 assists.

The previous night at Cambrian, the Mountaineers were swept 25-21,25-15, 25-13.

Duncan had five kills, and one stuff block. Collette came up with four kills, one ace and 15 assists and Bialachowski also had four kills.

The Mohawk men and women next play at home against Fanshawe on Saturday, Jan. 31.
