FANSHAWE 3, BOREAL 0

LONDON, Ont. - The Fanshawe Falcons (5-11) faced Collège Boréal (0-15) Saturday afternoon at the Glenn Johnston Athletic Centre. The Falcons won in three straight sets 25-17, 25-16 and 25-18.

While Boréal scored the first two points of the set, the Falcons were quick to recover and find their momentum. Fanshawe's Darian Gropp served five straight for the Falcons who led 6-2, forcing Boréal to take the first time out of the set. Fanshawe pulled away, and despite Boréal's best efforts to come back, Fanshawe won the first set 25-17.

Fanshawe continued to be the aggressor in the second set, taking an early lead over Boréal and never looking back. Four strong serves by Fanshawe's Manuela Alverez brought the score to 13-5 for the Falcons. However, Boréal was able close the gap by capitalizing on some errors by the Falcons. Boréal put up seven quick points and tightened up the set but Fanshawe fought through it, and were able to win the second set 25-16 over Boréal.

Fanshawe had an early 4-1 lead in the third set, as they looked to win in three straight sets. Boréal continued to fight and despite putting up a few great blocks, Fanshawe was successful in winning the third and final set of the afternoon, 25-18.

Join us on Sunday, Feb. 8 as the Falcons take on Cambrian College at 1 p.m. in the Glenn Johnston Athletic Centre.
