CAMBRIAN 3, NIAGARA 0

ANCASTER, Ont. - The trend continues at the 2015 OCAA Women's Volleyball Championship as Game 2 provided the fans with another upset. The Cambrian Golden Shield came to play on Thursday afternoon in a lopsided 3-0 win over the West's No. 2-ranked Niagara Knights.

The Golden Shield continued to gain momentum throughout the match winning 25-21, 25-16 and 25-15. The victory for Cambrian followed Durham's upset defeat of the East's No. 1-ranked Grizzlies.

The Knights entered the match on a high, recording one of their best seasons in recent history going 15-3 and earning a bye into the championship. The 8-10 Golden Shield quallified for the championship after a crossover playoff win against Canadore College last weekend.

Niagara's Alexandria Botelho led all scorers in the match with eight kills and one ace while Amanda Kring had seven kills for the Golden Shield.

Niagara entered the match with a slight edge, winning both regular season matches against Cambrian. However, the Golden Shield played the Knights in their final meeting of the season with the game going to five sets.

Cambrian now moves on to face Durham College in tomorrow's semi-final match. Niagara will match up against Georgian with the winner moving on towards the bronze medal semi-final and the loser going home.
