DURHAM 3, CAMBRIAN 0

ANCASTER, Ont. - The 2015 OCAA Women's Volleyball Championship has its first finalist as the Durham Lords swept the Cambrian Golden Shield in the first semi-final match of the evening. Set scores were 27-25, 25-11 and 25-18. The Lords advanced to the championship final after a 3-2 win over the St. Clair Saints in the playoff crossover, a 3-0 win over the Georgian Grizzlies on Day 1, and now the 3-0 win over Cambrian in the semis.

OCAA all-star Jessica Broad had a monster game for the Lords tallying 10 kills, five aces and six blocks and backed up her first-team award selection. Kelsey Watson had eight kills to lead the Cambrian Golden Shield.

Cambrian took on the role of Cinderella at this year's championship, coming into the tournament with a losing record but proved they belong with a 3-0 defeat over Canadore in the OCAA qualifying round. The Shield then defeated the west's No. 2-ranked Niagara Knights in the opener on Day 1.

With the win tonight, Durham has now won seven straight and will be looking for one more big win to finish off their season.

Cambrian will now play Trent University on Saturday morning in the first bronze medal semi-final. Durham moves on to the championship final where they will face either the Redeemer Royals or the Humber Hawks.
